The lovely boys and girls from Food For Thought Books are having their 3rd annual Radical Reading Group, “My Dangerous Desires” by Amber Hollibaugh on Thursday, December 18, 2008 7:00 PM at their fine location in downtown Amherst.

“Please join us for our 3rd Radical Reading Group. Based on Amber Hollibaugh’s My Dangerous Desires the conversation will center on how the intersections of our identities — including race, class and gender — impact our most intimate moments. How do we negotiate queer sex and what ways can we heal, experiment and give ourselves permission to take risks? This discussion will include reading from passages of the book and an art making exercise to help facilitate our creative energies as we think about what queer sex means to each of us.

Amber Hollibaugh is a lesbian, sex radical, ex-hooker, feminist, leftist organizer, and award-winning filmmaker. In My Dangerous Desires she presents over 20 years of her writings and five new essays, including “A Queer Girl Dreaming Her Way Home”. She looks at themes such as the relationship between activism and desire and how sexuality is tied to one’s class identity.
Come in and pick up your book in preparation for the discussion and receive 10% off your purchase. Books will be available at the reading as well.”
